Atlanta Philosophical Services offers several kinds of Consulting & Speaking Services, discussed below.
- Speaking Engagements
Dr. Dennis Martin will summarize and defend the topics in his monographs -- Flirts and Spices and Theses on 95 Sexdecillion Indulgences, as well as respond to questions and criticisms from the audience. Dr. Martin has been teaching adult college learners for over a quarter of a century, and is confortable working with a wide variety of audiences. Currently, there is no charge for this service under certain conditions -- concerning location and demand. We can provide advance advertising and signs.
Dr. Martin may also be able to speak on a philosophical topic of your choosing. Contact us with your suggested topic, audience, and date of presentation. He will be frank about his ability to do a good presentation for you and your organization.
Book Signings
Either separately, or in conjunction with a Speaking Engagement, Dr. Martin will sign and/or personalize his book at your place of business. Currently, there is no charge for this service under certain conditions -- concerning location and demand. We can provide advance advertising and signs. Dr. Martin worked in an academic library for eleven years, and so is comfortable in bookstores.
Conference Participation
Dr. Martin can participate in conferences related to the topics in his mongoraphs. Participation could be in the form of a paper presentation, a response to another paper, or a round-table discussion.
Conversations with a Philosopher
You may have once had a teacher, professor or mentor who stimulated your thinking by asking questions that you never thought to ask. Perhaps their suggestions improved the expression of your ideas. Coffeehouses, interest groups, and classes provide similar intellectual stimulation. Conversations with a Philosopher are one-on-one dialogues with Dr. Dennis Martin. These conversations can be conducted in person at our location in Atlanta, at a public location of your choice, or they can be conducted online if you are at a remote location. Discussions are not psychological in nature nor should they be about personal problems. Discussions stay at the theoretical, intellectual, and speculative level. Discussions can also be conducted with small groups of two or more.
Philosophical Consultations for Organizations & Businesses
Sometimes you can’t see the forest for the trees. You need a wider perspective. You’re surrounded by yes-men and yes-women who can’t give you an honest criticism. Sometimes you have an idea that you must keep secret from cohorts but want to discuss with someone. Sometimes you want to improve your case for a project or point of view but have run out of ideas. Sometimes you want to hear objections from opposing views, and you need a devil’s advocate. You may have an idea, strategy, or document that you would like to run past an independent thinker – someone who can give an outside unbiased opinion.
Intended for organizations or corporations, Atlanta Philosophical Services can help you defend or criticize your point of view, criticize your opponent’s point of view, formulate or express your ideas more clearly, and see your ideas in a larger context.
Short Courses
Your group, book club, or organization can choose a topic or non-fiction manuscript that you would like to study. Atlanta Philosophical Services can design and deliver talks, discussions, seminars, or short courses on that topic or manuscript. Topics could include such things as critical thinking, moral issues, business ethics, philosophy of religion, philosophy of sexuality, or the history of ideas.
